On January 30th Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Cynthia Wade visited Ohio University Film. She met with a class of first-year MFA and HTC students, screening her film Grist for the Mill (1999) and the 2007 Academy Award-winner for Best Short Documentary Freeheld. After the screening, Cynthia discussed the films with students, answering questions about her filmmaking career and offering words of advice.
A gathering was held for the women in the Film division, where Cynthia was available to answer questions about finding success as a woman in the film industry.
That night, the Film Division held a public screening with Cynthia. Her films Born Sweet (2010 Sundance Honorable Mention in Short Filmmaking) and Mondays at Racine (2013 Academy Award nominee for Best Short Documentary) were screened, with a Q & A session following the screening.
