- 1994 MFA grad Jeff Wray’s film, BERT, premieres at Chicago International Film Festival this October, and is featured by the festival director as a noted film not to miss this year. BERT heads to the East Lansing Film Festival in November.

- 2005 MFA grad Dennis Schweitzer was sworn in as a member of Local 695 Sound Mixers Union.

- 2012 MFA grad Chris Lange and 2014 MFA grad Neha Belvalkar both screened films at the MNTV Celebration at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lange screened Home Near Water, while Belvalkar screened Ayananta.

- MFA Thesis candidate Sarah Leibman screened her film, Good Bad Not Evil, at New Orleans Film Festival as part of the "Almost Romance" shorts program.

- MFA Thesis candidate Iryna Zhygaliuk's first-year short film, Laura Versus Global Warming, has been selected as part of the Ohio State University's Journal of Short Film.

- The James River Film Society has selected current HTC, BFA student Luke Szabados's film, The Rubric Timestamped, as a finalist for its James Rivers Short Films competition.
