The most recent documentary directed by Patricia Perez (M.F.A. ’01), Finding Gaston, is ready to hit the U.S. market. Produced by Perez’s Chiwake Films and released by Wide House, Finding Gaston follows world-renowned Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio on his journey to use his culinary talents to foster national identity and pride. Perez shows Acurio as more than an award-winning chef, author and entrepreneur and provides a lens into the personal experiences and inspirations that make Acurio a national hero. Perez followed Acurio for two years - traveling to England, Spain, Sweden and the U.S. – to discover the storytelling power of Peruvian cuisine.
