Margaret Rasberry

Margaret Rasberry was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. She received her B.A. in Film Studies and a minor in Journalism at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. Her studies fall into a broad range including French cinema of the 1930’s to the 1950’s, Animation, Feminist Film Theory, Bollywood, Golden age Hollywood, Japanese Cinema, and Film Noir. Her research focuses on how the male gaze is used on female and male characters in cinema and how personal identities are perceived through that gaze in collective society.

Erin Drake

Erin Drake is originally from Greenwood, Indiana.  In 2017, she graduated from Ball State University with two BA degrees in English and Telecommunications.  Her love for film and film analysis first emerged during her junior year of high school.  Around the same time, she started posting her film reviews on a personal blog.  As a first year MA student in the Film Studies program at OU, her primary interests include 1970s cinema, responses to the sexual revolution on film, and representation of LGBTQ+ identities.

Zhe Chen

Zhe Chen, preferred to be called Z, is from China. He received his bachelor degree in Film Studies in University at Buffalo. Z has a wide range of interests in film, so he is still trying to choose one certain direction in his future research. So far his focus is on the experience of the audience when they are watching a film in a different language. In addition, the interaction between the newtechnology VR and cinema is Z's another interest. Z loves writing film reviews. In addition, now Z is learning filmmaking skills.

Kate Keeney

Kate Keeney is from Maryland and just finished up her B.A. in Film and Creative Writing there at Salisbury University. Aside from the writing she does for her work in film studies, she's had poems published in literary journals across the country, including Roanoke Review and Germ Magazine. Her interests include Genre Theory, the female monster, Romanticism, and superhero movies.

Kate Austin

Katherine was born and raised in Riverview, Florida, and has lived in Central Florida until moving to Athens for graduate school. In 2016, she graduated from Southeastern University with a B.A. in Communications with minors in Religion, Theatre, and English. As a part of the University’s Honors Program requirements, she completed a thesis entitled “Improving the Cinematherapy Film Selection Process By Applying Literary Theory.”

While completing her undergraduate degree, Katherine produced a feature length film and spent her last semester enrolled in the Disney College Program in Orlando as an attractions cast member. Currently, her interests for graduate level research include trauma theory, grief in film, therapeutic film use, and Disney films.

Tyler Austin

Tyler Austin studied Film Studies as an undergraduate student in Bowling Green State University and he graduated in spring of 2016. He directed and stared in several short films during that time and he even was a film critic during his senior year of college. He is currently interested in how exploitation films from the 70's and 80's have affected modern cinema.
