Daniel was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. He moved to the States when he was 18 and majored in Psychology and English and minored in Film Studies at SUNY Albany. Throughout this time he worked on a few film projects and wrote a variety of film-related essays, having had a few reviews published in the Mexican film magazine, Cinemania. He likes exploring the different ways in which you can cook a plantain, and has a mild obsession with Woody Allen films.


Semih is originally from Istanbul, Turkey. He graduated with a BA in Film and TV from Bahcesehir University. He interned in the Council of Europe's Audiovisual department and has written and directed several short films and web series. He also worked as an assistant screenwriter in several Turkish TV series, including the Turkish version ofForbrydelsen (The Killing). Currently, he is writing scripts for a web series in Turkey from the USA. His work as a director/screenwriter has been selected for various screenings and awards. He aims to develop his first feature film while he is studying at Ohio University.


Kramer graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor's Degree in Video Production. While attending OU, he DJ’ed for ACRN and was a member of the Ohio University Men's Crew team, Mountain Bike Club, and SnowCats. His digital short won the underclassman division of the OU 48 Film Festival. During his free time he recycled old skateboards into custom hand-cut cruiser boards with LED lights for safer street and night riding. When demand increased, he launched and funded a Kickstarter campaign. This gave him the ability to professionally manufacture his boards. He moved to Hallandale Beach Florida and became an Enrichment Specialist at a children's mental health facility. While there, he taught Science, Social Skills, Nutrition and Fitness. Some memorable moments from freelancing include the Adventure Fishing World Championships in the Everglades and a documentary on worker's rights, which helped end a strike and win back jobs. All of these experiences helped motivate him to apply for his Master's in Fine Arts.


Dylan  was born outside Athens, Georgia, but has lived most of her life outside Athens, Ohio.  After deciding to make movies at age 13 she worked variously on television programs, documentary productions, corporate, promotional, and instructional videos, independent filmmaking, and far too many student films to count.  She's happiest working as a cinematographer, gaffer, or assistant camera, but will do anything that involves making a movie.  Her short film The Persistence of Vision screened at the Southside Film Festival and the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival.    

Educational background: BA, magna cum laude, in Cinema and Spanish - Denison University.

Viviana is from Barranquilla, Colombia. She studied Social Communication and Journalism, and then received a Master’s in Creative Writing from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She has taught writing in the Plastic Arts program at the Universidad del Atlántico and has worked in different fields of filmmaking. She was the cinematographer of the short film Valeria is dirty (2004), setting, scenographer and make-up artist of the feature film Wounds (2008), director and screenwriter of the short film Make-up for blind (2009), field producer and assistant director of two seasons of the T.V series Travelling (2013-2014), a weekly magazine specialized in Colombia and Latin America’s film production. In 2014, Viviana also worked on the distribution of the feature films Chasing Fireflies (2013) and Pink Noise (2014), and collaborated with the production of the feature film documentary Chasing after the wind (2014).

Dustin grew up in Dublin, Ohio, but has spent the last few years in Canton, Ohio. He graduated from Malone University with a B.A. in Communication Arts, focusing on Media Communication, and he also studied at the Los Angeles Film Studies Center while interning at Industry Entertainment. Over the last six years, he has written and directed eight short films and a feature-length documentary. While at Ohio University, Dustin hopes to test the expressive capabilities of the cinematic medium.


Young cinematographer, Yaphet Jackman, hails from Guyana, South America, the only English speaking country in the continent. Since the tender age of 8, Yaphet has been pursuing the mission to succeed in creating an institution in Guyana that would teach visual arts, media and film to young aspiring filmmakers. His 15 years of experience in the media industry ranges from camera operation to managing studios and film projects in Guyana, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Antigua. Armed with a Bachelors degree in Communication Studies from the University of Guyana, Yaphet brings the Caribbean perspective to the School of Film. Jackman is a creative and strategic thinker that is at the helm of the preservation and development of culture and the arts in Guyana through the visual and performing arts. He is also an active spoken word poet, blogger and social activist, passionate about current affairs and politics in 3rd world countries.





Sarah was born and raised in Leslie County, Kentucky. She studied Multimedia Production and Film Studies at Morehead State University and produced and directed two short documentaries, one of which was shown at the Appalachian studies conference. The other was presented at MSU Celebration of Student Scholarship and featured in the Ashland Independent newspaper. She worked three summers before and during undergrad with Appalshop’s Appalachian Media Institute as an intern and eventually a trainer. She created two short docs with AMI – one of which was screened at the Louisville International Film Festival.


Meredith was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA.  She graduated from DeSales University with a BA in television and film and was honored with the Guerilla Award for outstanding achievement in filmmaking by the DeSales’ film faculty. After graduation she interned with NFL Films, working on the television side of the industry, both with live and prerecorded shows.


Minh is from Hanoi, Vietnam.  She studied English at Ohio Wesleyan University and then worked for a year for a television channel in Hanoi as a screenwriter. Her interests include Buddhism, Vietnamese coffee, and storytelling.


Andrea is an artist, photographer, filmmaker and writer whose interests lie in the gothic, sublime, romanticized and grotesque. She prefers to walk the line between a perceived reality and dreamscapes where the surreal and absurd create a nihilistic dialogue. Having lived in Athens, OH all of her life, Andrea has a strong passion for the pursuit of education and creative integrity. Her film research and interests include early Aronofsky films, Christopher Nolan, Eisenstein and Soviet Montage, Terrence Malick, Alain Resnais, Disney Animated Features (1937-2003: the Classics, Dark Age, Renaissance and New Wave) and Irish Cinema.

Fernanda was born in Belo Horizonte and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. She received her Bachelor's degree in Social Communication with an emphasis in Filmmaking at FAAP in 2010.

Her thesis short doc “Unsustainable” received many awards in festivals and was played in over 20 countries. She started working as an intern at a small production company in 2007, was later promoted to “Main Editor”, worked with advertisement and other projects such as Jump Serve: and How It Changed Volleyball an ESPN doc. While working in the production company she developed some personal projects for the Internet. In 2013 she joined a YouTube channel that fights homophobia with comedy and information. Today the channel has over forty thousand subscribers and almost three million views.

She starts the MFA program seeking to sharpen her skills as a director/writer and editor.


Shahriar is from Tehran, Iran and has worked as a freelance director, editor, producer and composer for the past 4 years. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Azad University of Science and Research in 2010 and an ASA in film from University of Art and Culture, Tehran, Iran in 2013. His interests include writing, photography, rock and heavy metal music, electric and acoustic guitar, video games, and his film interests include works by Alejandro González Iñárritu, Wes Anderson and Asghar Farhadi.
