First-year students are quickly immersed into the craft and culture of filmmaking within the first few weeks of arriving at the School of Film, a year affectionately known as "Boot Camp."  Through a series of workshops, students learn the foundation of camera operation, digital editing and sound recording.  Students are also guided through the art of developing characters and writing scripts.  Students, in assigned teams of 3-4, produce one short narrative film and a short documentary.  In the Spring, students add the fundamentals of lighting to the set and complete one more short narrative film.
